Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)

The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) serves as the regulatory and developmental agency for the early childhood sector in Singapore, overseeing key aspects of children’s development below the age of 7, across both kindergartens and child care centres. ECDA is an autonomous agency jointly overseen by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), and is hosted under the Ministry of Social and Family Development. ECDA was officially launched on 1st April 2013.

On 12 May 2020, ECDA and SUSS officially entered into a collaboration to conduct the Temasek Foundation – Multi-Disciplinary Programme for Enhancing Child Development (MDPECD). It is a training programme to equip KidSTART practitioners with multiple competencies across child development, health and social work domains for early childhood intervention in relation to young children from low-income families. The programme is also open to other practitioners who wish to build competency in multi-disciplinary practice to work with low-income families with young children.
